Mechanical Estimator

- Experience estimating Industrial Projects required (Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Heavy Industrial)
- Attend Pre-Bid meetings
- Perform a thorough review of the project specifications, scope of work and drawings
- Organize all bid documentation in a professional manner
- Maintain accurate listing of estimates and due dates
- Submit questions during the bid process to provide as much clarity as possible
- Develop a list of clarifications and exclusions throughout the estimating process for inclusion in the project proposal
- Obtain competitive pricing on materials for the estimate
- Develop estimates in a way which promotes review with others for completeness
- Develop estimate and takeoffs in a way that materials can be easily transferred into a purchase order at award
- Communicate with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to review a project execution strategy identifying complexity factors and special equipment needs
- Maintain an updated database of unit rates for estimating.
- Develop relationships with key suppliers & subcontractors and promote a competitive bid environment within suppliers optimizing best pricing for estimates
- After project award, provide Buy Out project materials listing to procurement
- Develop project change request estimates

Preferred skills
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience with mechanical industrial estimating projects including full scope of project requirements.
- Combination of 2- or 4-year degree in a related field or 7 to 10 years total experience.
- Operate with integrity and ensure organization builds and maintains relationships with clients and suppliers
- Strong communication skills with supervisors and co-workers to ensure success on every task, a good team player.

- Arrive at work on time, as scheduled, consistently, reliably, & complete each shift
- Follow all safety rules and standards for the company and for the site
- Understand and follow Instructions from the direct supervisor

This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions are sedentary but may require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 20 pounds; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger and motor dexterity. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers/printers/scanners/fax machines, phones, filing cabinets, etc. Employees must have the ability to transport necessary equipment and supplies and set up meetings, etc. The employee must have a current drivers license and have the ability to travel to various locations at times for various reasons.
