Direct Material Planner (Biotech)

Join our team as a Direct Material Planner in Vacaville, CA. At Lonza, we're committed to encouraging a collaborative environment where innovative ideas thrive. This position is a key interface between Production Planning, Site Scheduling, Logistics, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers, and has the responsibility of balancing the site's operational capacity and requirements while working under the guidance/ direction of the Head of Planning.
Perform all routine tasks to convert planned orders into material plans, including the creation and management of material planned requirements.
Liaise with Supply Planner and Schedulers to ensure all material plans are up to date and responsive to changes in material requirements.
Build and maintain detailed material planning parameters in planning systems.
Convert material requirements plans (purchase requisitions) into Purchase Orders.
Expedite material availability through liaison with procurement and teams involved with inbound material processing.
Build and manage critical metrics and measures for material-related data to ensure accurate understanding of material availability.
Complete key material availability, mobilization, or write actions to support efficient inventory management while reducing scrap/waste.
Collaborate with collaborators to develop safety stock and inventory plans aligned with production plans.
Track, report, and facilitate timely material availability, including testing and release for production.
Participate in site project implementations, tech transfers, and business process improvements.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in life science, business, industrial engineering, or related field.
Six Sigma certification (green belt) is a plus.
Strong experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, and/or Buying Planning, Category Management in the pharmaceutical or other industries. Experience using ERP systems such as SAP
Proven ability to influence and negotiate win/win solutions.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of Lean Production System (LPS) elements and methods.
Ability to work under limited direction and mentorship, with general instructions on new assignments.
The salary range for this position is anticipated to be between $109,000- $128,100. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the successful candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
