Chair, Department of Pediatrics, Nemours Children’s Health, Jacksonville (Finance)
The Chair of the Department of Pediatrics reports directly to Chief Medical Officer of Nemours Children's Health, Jacksonville. Nemours has as its mission to serve pediatric care through excellence in education, research, patient care and community engagement, enthusiasm, integrity and pride and lead through the Nemours values; aligning the vision for the department with the campus, other Nemours affiliated clinics, partner hospitals and the enterprise. The success will be garnered through personal and institutional commitment that strives to achieve excellence in all aspects of the department's operation. The chair provides leadership, supervision and is accountable to fulfill the education, research, clinical and administrative service missions and values of the department. The chair is responsible for values, and standards of behaviors of the Nemours Foundation. The chair develops and maintains an academically successful, clinically excellent and fiscally sound department, utilizing a variety of leadership styles including communicator, motivator, servant-leader, coach, counselor and negotiator to achieve the vision and goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Inspire and lead the Department of Pediatrics and its Divisions to achieve superior and quantifiable outcomes and build on the history of exceptional performance.
• Work in partnership to develop the vision and strategic direction for the Department of Pediatrics in its clinical, academic, and research missions that are aligned with the overall mission and values of Nemours. Assist in increasing the spectrum of clinical care and divisions that we offer.
• Be an active senior member of the Jacksonville physician leadership team, engaging in strategic discussions and planning to advance Nemours' local and enterprise initiatives.
• Lead and work collaboratively across the campus and with Nemours' partner hospitals to oversee and advance inpatient care, outpatient services, and clinical care across all campuses.
• Establish meaningful and trusted working relationships with other Chairs, Chiefs, Directors, leaders, and staff across all subspecialties and levels of care, within and outside of the Department of Pediatrics.
• Cultivate a collaborative and positive culture that prioritizes the well-being of team members, offers support at all levels within the organization, and has policies in place that encourage respect, trust, empathy, and support.
• Actively participate in organizations and societies to network, discover, and share best practices within pediatrics and bring national distinction to the Department of Pediatrics.
• Sustain and build national scholarly academic recognition, clinical expertise, and research programs in pediatrics to support the academic mission of Nemours to improve the health of children.
• Partner with medical and administrative leadership to optimize pediatric patient care and academic advancement across the Nemours system.
• Champion meaningful research that is impactful to the field of pediatrics and its subspecialties.
• Strengthen and grow the academic and educational relationship between the academic partners affiliated with Nemours Children's Health, Jacksonville through shared clinical programming, academic initiatives, and educational opportunities.
• Attract, inspire, mentor, grow, and retain high-performing pediatrics specialists, care providers and staff.
• Establish policies and standard of quality, consistent with Nemours values and policies, which ensure the delivery of the highest level of care in the Department of Pediatrics.
• Oversee the educational efforts in the Department of Pediatrics, mentor faculty, guide the instruction of the various medical trainees, and collaborates with the Office of Graduate Medical Education to support program directors and ensure success of those programs.
• Engage with local, regional and national organizations, the people of Jacksonville and other community stakeholders to contribute to Nemours' goal of creating the healthiest generation of children.
• This position may also require additional duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by the employee's supervisor or Nemours.
