Non CDL Commercial Vehicle Delivery Driver (Transportation)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Operating a Non CDL Box Truck/Cargo van vehicle to pick up and deliver products donated to GCFD within the Chicagoland area.
Must be 21yrs of age with a good driving record.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Operate vehicle to pick up and deliver products donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository in an efficient, timely, and safe manner.
Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records of all pickup and delivery transactions, reporting any discrepancies to manager.
Evaluate the suitability of donated products for distribution to GCFD member agencies. Communicate information regarding donation volume, quality or changes in route, and unnecessary waiting times to manager.
Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles; ensure that all pre-trip and post-trip vehicle maintenance and safety checklists are completed daily. Report any issues to the manager immediately.
Maintain, and account for all assigned GCFD equipment, such as, dollies, totes, crates and signature devices
Operate vehicle according to all local, state and federal regulations.
Load and off-load freight products manually
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for coordination with donors and member agencies.
Capable of obtaining Food Handling and Sanitation Certificate
Ability to perform basic math computations using a calculator.
Lifting a minimum of 50lbs and carrying between equipment and vehicle
Exposure to inclement driving weather.
Working outdoors in various types of weather
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 21yrs of age
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
Possess a valid State of Illinois Driver's License and clean driving record (MVR).
Major city driving experience, preferably in the Chicagoland area.
Must be able to perform all duties associated with a physically strenuous and fast paced position.
