The Research Finance Manager will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of the operating and capital budgets as well as financial reporting for Research and ongoing research operations. Provides financial performance analyses of new and existing research centers, programs, cores, diagnostic labs, clinical trials, grants/contracts, and any other revenue generating activities. Responsible for the oversight, creation, management, and distribution of Nemours internal budgets. Supervises financial analysts in support of research finances and its functions. Acts as a collaborative resource and financial performance expert for Research leaders, aimed at driving sound decision making through continuous fiscal monitoring and analysis of key performance indicators. Identifies and effectively communicates opportunities to improve service, outcomes, productivity, efficiency, and overall financial performance.
In cooperation with RF associate director, research leadership, lab heads and managers/administrators, develops and monitors operational and capital budgets including revenue and all expenses. Maintain responsibility for the financial monitoring system, including monitoring and analysis of financial statements, budget variances, and performance indicators. Actively participate in financial business planning, providing financial proformas, ROI analysis, and other critical financial planning.
Review financials of clinical trials & grants in coordination with Research Finance Business Manager, Post Awar Manager, and post-award accounting to ensure awareness of ongoing performance.
Prepare monthly variance report for Research senior leaders addressing both the cause and potential resolution of any identified variances. Forecast actual spending to ensure adherence to the operating budget and internal department programs and centers.
Manage all capital spending across all Nemours Biomedical Research sites in conjunction with site Administrators.
Conduct cost analyses for current programs, cores, projects, and proposals as necessary or requested. Effectively use raw data and fiscal analysis in the support of day-to-day decision making and business planning.
Manage the Labor Distribution Schedules (LDS) which includes processing daily ticket updates through MyTech system, processing labor costs, ensuring complete information is included in the ticket requests, submitting People Group updates, adding new associates and removing terminated associates.
Ensure documents are shared with department center directors to review financial results and objectives. Meetings may include Research leaders, hospital administrators, directors, or other members of the corporate or local operations areas.
Approve all requisitions and invoices related to internal funding for Research to ensure compliance and fiscal responsibility.
Assure compliance with all pertinent legal and regulatory requirements as appropriate. Where appropriate, provide training for staff from relevant departments to further their understanding of the financial impact of grants, staff effort reporting, financial dashboard capabilities and grant forecasted spending.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree is required; Master's Degree is preferred
Supervisory experience is preferred
5 years of experience in a related field required; Finance or Accounting preferred.
Experience in an academic or non-academic research healthcare organization is preferred
