Manager, Product Stewardship & Technical Services (Finance)
Summary:
Oversee and lead programs that provide detailed analysis of building materials and building envelope systems. This role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with chemical regulations, conducting research and development activities, and maintaining quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations.
Understand global and local legislative and regulatory initiatives that shape the regulatory environment for the industry and recommend changes in advance of competitive pressure.
Provide long-term strategies and guidance for the company and lead efforts to develop communication plans regarding the company, product stewardship, and the company's products.
Work within the Building Science and Product Stewardship team to ensure compliance with chemical regulations and other regulatory projects as required.
Analyze and interpret regulatory requirements that apply to the company's product lines/products and their end uses.
Conduct research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances for product and process development and application.
Identify and/or devise new equipment, and develop formulas, processes, and methods to solve technical problems.
Conduct research on manufactured products to develop and improve products.
Oversee product and process experiments, tests and trials to improve upon or duplicate various materials and substances and engage in research to develop new methods of processing or production.
Plan and control activities concerned with the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products.
Interpret and implement quality assurance standards to ensure that the company meets customer requirements and government regulations
Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in chemistry.
Develop quality assurance policies and procedures.
Advise and assist in obtaining patents for products, processes, or equipment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university, or equivalent; minimum of 5 years' leadership experience in the polyurethane industry and over 10 years' experience in polyurethane product development, product stewardship, HR flexible development, code compliance and testing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

This position requires specific knowledge in the following areas to be successful:
· Proven proficiency in relevant federal and state laws and regulations governing building and construction, product safety, as well as knowledge of product risk management and product stewardship;
· Demonstrated expertise in GHS/CLP compliant safety data sheets and extended SDSs, product labeling requirements, hazardous materials/dangerous goods transportation requirements;
· Working knowledge of product regulations;
· Chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo, including the uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods;
· Advanced knowledge in the processing of polyurethanes and ability to assess deficiencies in field application by observation and analysis. Thorough understanding of the interrelated facets of polyurethane and the equipment used in its manufacture in providing guidance for proper application as well as failure analysis.
· Plant and animal organisms, their tissues, cells, functions, interdependencies, and interactions with each other and the environment;
· Principles and methods for describing the features of land, sea, and air masses, including their physical characteristics, locations, interrelationships, and distribution of plant, animal, and human life;
· Ability to travel 40%.

This job requires working in an office, laboratory, building site and outside environment, which may or may not be climate controlled, has operating industrial/construction machinery and equipment, and movement of materials and people.
