Project Manager for Childhood Health Promotion Study (Finance)
1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
2. Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
4. Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
5. Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
8. May serve as property custodian for the department.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.

Position Summary: The Community Health Promotion Lab at the University of Houston is seeking a full-time research manager to run a randomized control trial research study focused on promoting health and well-being among families with toddlers (Funded by National Institute of Child Health and Development, R01HD114793-01). Funding for this position is available for up to four years.
Duties:
• Manage a clinical research trial, including staff coordination, participant recruitment, data collection, and compliance with university and federal regulations.
• Set up, maintain, and document effective systems to manage physical, budgetary, data, and human resources.
• Facilitate achievement of short- and long-term goals of the project.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Maintain a regular full-time schedule (40 hours per week) with majority of work being completed in the Community Health Promotion Lab on the University of Houston main campus during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 8-6p).
• On a limited basis, pending permission of supervisor, occasional remote work may be allowable.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in health or project management related field.
• Motivated individual with a strong track record of managing research or related projects.
• Exceptional communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organizational chart.
• Highly organized.
• Proactive and empowered problem solver.
• Ability to discern when to be detail oriented and when to focus on big picture.
