Under the direction of the Director of Operations for B&W Chanute, the position is responsible for providing leadership to the Project Managers and for directing and managing the execution of the all equipment contract efforts and developing improvement programs to increase B&W Chanute's competitive position. Develops departmental plans, including business, production and organizational priorities based on the Project Schedule demands.
Manages the execution of the B&W Chanute project management team. The team has overall responsibility to manage equipment contracts from order booking through warranty. Note that the team has members at the Chanute, Tulsa and West Point locations.
Directs, plans and monitors project management resources for project completion, assessing manpower and material requirements.
Conducts regular project review meetings to follow contract performance status including both financial, schedule and contingency/risk/opportunity management.
Assists in managing disputes/changes with customers when it must be ellivated above the Project Manager level.
Develops strategies for project margin improvement through order changes and reduction in costs.
Collaborates with sales and operations departments to obtain information needed to engineer and manufacture orders.
Provides support to sales through advisory input to proposals and presentations.
Works with sales department in negotiation of terms and conditions, order changes and potential warranty or back-charge items.
Communicates with operations department to understand manufacturing schedules to fulfill order commitments.
Assesses available technology for project management improvement.
Provides supervision for the project management, bill of material and drafting functions.
Minimum 5 years of Project Management in the boiler new equipment or aftermarket areas.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experienced with B&W Project Status Reports (PSR) or equivalent.
Knowledge of commercial contracts.
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Ability to understand project issues and how to identify them early
Ability to influence people who are not in direct chain of command
