Behavior Consultant (R&D)
Reports To: Regional Clinical Supervisor
Employment Status: Exempt Full or Part-Time
Job Summary:
The Behavior Consultant under the direction of the Regional Clinical Supervisor is responsible for assessing participant needs and developing an intervention plan to be implemented by Behavior Technicians (BTs) and Behavior Technician Trainers (BTTs). Behavior Consultants will utilize trauma-informed, individualized, strengths-based, culturally responsive, family-centered approach to provide high quality intervention and/or case management to participants and caregivers in their home, school, and community settings. The Behavior Consultant meets regularly with the Clinical Supervisor and/or Regional Clinical Supervisor to determine the progress of the participant. Behavior Consultants will be responsible for documentation of services; collaboration with other social services, Regional Center, educational or mental health professionals; and actively participating in group or individual supervision.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Clinical Practice: 1) Assesses behavior and develops treatment goals, skill acquisition programs, behavior intervention plans, and treatment plan updates. 3) Supervises Regional Center cases 4) Provides regular and ongoing guidance and supervision for the clinical services provided by Behavior Technicians/Registered Behavior Technicians in a variety of settings. 5) Provides regular training/coaching to Behavior Technicians/Registered Behavior Technicians. 6) Provides regular training and education to caregivers to support follow-through of interventions and teach effective tools to manage challenging behaviors. 7) Collaborates with other team members and service providers to provide continuity and comprehensiveness of care (e.g., attending IEPs, SLPs, OTs, teachers). 8) Provides treatment with dignity and show therapeutic understanding with all participants including people who differ in race, ethnicity, gender, and economic background, country of origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and education.
Case Management/Coordination: Communicates collaboratively and regularly with essential team members to keep them informed and to facilitate continuous open lines of communication.
Documentation/Administrative Duties: 1) Completes documentation of all services rendered in accordance with agency policy, timeliness, and quality standards for the position. 2) Maintains participant records in an orderly and timely manner including effective use of identified Electronic Health Record systems. 3) Comprehends and meets all charting and billing deadlines. 4) Adheres to productivity goal of 65%. 5) Tracks and maintains proper authorization utilization. 7) Participates in internal and community-based quality assurance as assigned. 8) Verifies all aspects of documentation meet or exceed county, state, and federal guidelines. 9) Meets all HIPAA standards in safeguarding and/or providing PHI to others. 8)Completes other documentation as directed by their supervisor.
Professional Development: 1) Participates in individual or group supervision meetings as assigned. 2) If applicable, maintains current certification status with the BACB which includes promptly completing Continuing Education or examinations as required. 3) Participates in training as assigned. 4) Participates in quality improvement and peer reviews. 5) Attends monthly staff meetings as assigned.
Community Leadership: 1) Represents FF CARES professionally in community situation. 2) Participates in community committees and presentations as assigned.
Compliance: 1) Maintains excellent professional boundaries and adheres to all professional ethical standards including abuse reporting, and maintenance of participant confidentiality. 2) Adheres to all agency and program policies including Boundary Code of Ethics, Core Competencies, Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook and state and federal regulations.
Additonal Duties: 1) Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor. 2) Driving on agency business is required. 3) May participate in agencys Continuous Quality Improvement Committees.
Competencies: 1) Demonstrates knowledge of child/adolescent/young adult development 2) Knowledge of Learning theory, behavioral principles and techniques. 3) Knowledge of collection and interpretation of descriptive data (e.g. ABC data) and functional analysis. 4) Demonstrates knowledge of documentation standards and capacity to meet documentation expectations. 5)Provides developmentally appropriate treatment services consistent with program mode.
Qualifications:
Required
A. Degree in behavior analysis, child development, psychology, or relevant field AND two (2) years providing Applied Behavior Analysis services or clinical services to children, youth, or families. Knowledge of neuro-developmental disorders and autism. Motivation to continue learning and growing in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Demonstrated ability to assess, triage and organize work. Demonstrated understanding of the developmental milestones of children, youth, or young adults to provide to provide care, treatment, and Strong ability to lead and inspire by promoting positive team morale and team cohesion. Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and Basic computer competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records. Clean driving record and a current CA Drivers License or ability to obtain CA drivers license within 10 days after hired.
Preferred
BCaBA certification in the state of California. Bilingual (Spanish/English) able to read, write and speak English and Spanish proficiently. One (1) year of year experience assessing participant needs and developing treatment plans to meet those needs.

The noise level in the work environment may be loud at times but is maintained within safe California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CAL/OSHA) standards.

Physical Activities
Must be computer proficient and be able to work on a computer for up to 20 hours per Must be able to bend, lift as much as 25 lbs., and walk up to a mile at one time. Must be able to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer Must have visual acuity to view a computer terminal; to perform activities such as preparing reports, analyzing data; and to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned. Must be able to move in and out of offices, participants homes, or other community settings. Must be licensed and have the ability and skill to drive cars, vans, or other Must be able to drive locally up to 50% of the workday. Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and utilize Pro-ACT (or other agency approved training) principals. Must be able to physically monitor youths to ensure they do not hurt themselves orThe job has potential for injury or harm, and the ability to assess and avoid threats posed by participants and the community is necessary to maintain safety.
