Assistant or Associate Professor - Information Sciences Technology (Finance)
We seek an accomplished scholar to lead our NSA-designated Academic Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity Education during an exciting period of growth, including the development of a new B.S. degree focusing on AI and Cybersecurity to complement our existing M.S. program. The ideal candidate will contribute to the growth and success of our applied research-driven program through a demonstrated record of outstanding scholarship, evidenced by high-impact publications and a forward-thinking research agenda capable of securing competitive external funding. We welcome applicants with a diversity of research interests that complement those of our current faculty members, foster collaboration, and are relevant to applied cybersecurity. Two current focus areas with opportunity for collaboration include AI/ML for Cybersecurity and securing Operational Technology (OT) systems.
To be considered for the Associate Professor rank with tenure, candidates must hold tenure at the rank of Associate Professor at an institution of comparable standing and possess a doctoral degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Furthermore, candidates are expected to have substantial teaching experience in both face-to-face and online formats at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to innovative instructional strategies, continuous professional development, and the ability to adapt curriculum design and delivery to meet evolving industry demands. Teaching expertise in areas such as cybersecurity, secure application development, security operations, or risk management is particularly desirable.
The Department of Information Sciences Technology (IST) is a dynamic unit within the Cullen College of Engineering that leads the Transportation Cybersecurity Center for Advanced Research and Education, a US Department of Transportation (USDOT) Tier-1 University Transportation Center. IST offers innovative programs in Cybersecurity, Technology Leadership and Innovation Engineering, Virtual/Augmented Reality, and User Experience Design. Our location in Houston provides extensive opportunities for industry collaboration, including partnerships with the Texas Medical Center, energy sector, and NASA Johnson Space Center. A new state-of-the-art building at our Sugar Land campus will house next-generation cybersecurity laboratories, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape these facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
• A Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field
• Current appointment at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure at a peer institution (for Associate Professor rank with tenure)
• Strong record of external research funding and high-impact publications
• Ability to teach effectively in-person, online, or in blended learning
• Expertise in AI/ML applications in cybersecurity
