Designer (Creative Design)
This role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining design standards while ensuring all deliverables meet accuracy and completeness requirements before submission to clients. Responsibilities include coordinating daily operations within the Design department, reviewing project scopes to determine estimates and design strategies, and providing assistance to Designers to resolve issues that arise during projects. The position also involves reviewing and approving design-related documentation, such as time sheets, to support efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and develop complex pipeline routes exceeding 20 miles, incorporating original concepts and adapting standard designs as needed. Collaborate effectively with multiple disciplines, including Project Management, Survey, Right-of-Way, GIS, and third-party engineering and design firms, to ensure smooth project execution from initial setup through design completion and as-built deliverables. Review vendor drawing standards, field data, and project information to create accurate and detailed equipment layouts, feature details, and other project deliverables. Revise drawings to address discrepancies, correct details, and align with actual project feature locations and dimensions. Ensure design accuracy, completeness, and consistency across disciplines by reviewing drawings, calculations, and material quantity take-offs. Design complex horizontal directional drills (HDD) and bores following typical contractor standards and process as-built contractor data (e.g., DWG, PDF, CSV files) to calculate weld point locations and elevations. Use programs such as BlueSky to generate alignment sheets and database files (MDB files) for preliminary and as-built stages. Work closely with Project Managers to ensure deliverables meet client specifications and requirements.Utilize TGS Transform or similar tools to retrieve historical data and create working base files, including utility crossings.Process and interpret survey data into AutoCAD and ensure accurate geolocation of property features.Maintain knowledge of pipeline routing standards and provide solutions for complex routing issues.Communicate project updates, routing changes, and technical details effectively in client meetings.Address and resolve technical questions from clients and Project Managers promptly.Track and monitor design changes, updating base files accurately using established templates for preliminary and as-built stages.Meet client deadlines and provide deliverables, including sketches, KMZ files, CSV files, and proposed route details.Coordinate with the CAD department to ensure drafting requirements and deliverable counts are communicated clearly.Supply survey teams with necessary files (e.g., stakeout, Google, search tie files) to initiate fieldwork.Assist with property layout and deed plotting in coordination with Registered Professional Land Surveyors (RPLS).Create as-built weld logs and hydrotest documentation per client standards.Provide clients with all required as-built information and ensure deliverables meet specifications.

Education and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of drafting experience with proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble, Excel, Word, Access, Google Earth, BlueSky, Aspire, and Insight. Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to define issues, collect and analyze data, and present findings with attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, Remote Desktop Services, and Microsoft SQL or similar RDBMS. Familiarity with web technologies, domain registrars, and SSL certificates. Experience with Jira Service Management or other ticketing systems is preferred. Knowledge of Remote Monitoring and Maintenance systems (e.g., ConnectWise Automate, Kaseya BMS) and VMware Horizon is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment:
This role offers flexibility, with the ability to work remotely, in the office, or in the field, depending on project requirements.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional evening networking, trade show overnights, and local business development events.
Travel:
Travel may be required as needed to meet project and client demands.
