Human Resources - Payroll, Tax and Leave of Absence (Finance)
SUMMARY Performs all activities necessary to process full cycle weekly and bi-weekly multi-state payrolls and maintain the payroll and time keeping systems. This position is the Payroll/Payroll Tax/Leave of Absence Specialist with responsibility for end-to-end payroll production. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accountable for accurate and timely payroll processing for 1,000+ (domestic) employees, utilizing Ceridian Dayforce systems; responsible for new hires, terminations, employee record changes, taxes (Federal, state, local), calculating and processing exception items (such as manual checks, accruals, retroactive pay, garnishments, voluntary employee deductions, etc.). Assists with quarter and year-end payroll and tax reconciliation and reporting. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions. Maintain all timekeeping profiles, policy accruals, and access, troubleshoot issues with time keeping systems and resolve problems when they occur. Prepares special reports, research and analysis. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Maintains all payroll and related records including accumulation and use of PTO, holidays, sick and leaves of absence. Effectively and professionally communicate payroll-related matters to all levels of staff and management Provides management reports for payroll related matters. Documents and maintains all procedures related to payroll. Ensure that departmental policy is in compliance with Federal, State and Company laws and policies. Collaborate with site Human Resources to ensure an error-free payroll. Maintains an awareness of current practices and trends in payroll and informs Payroll Manager of changes in all current payroll tax regulations and laws. Manages the auditing of all taxation items on all payrolls to ensure accuracy. Oversees the processing of service inquiries and special requests from employees. Serve as liaison between Unemployment vendor and Site Human Resources to delegate claims. Serves as liaison between Benefits vendors and Site Human Resources to provide updates of employee LOA status and pay calculation to Payroll. Other administrative duties as assigned. *Other duties may be assigned* SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent minimum. Bachelor's degree preferred 5+ years payroll processing, payroll tax regulations/laws, and Leave of Absence experience Must be familiar with standard payroll concepts, practices and payroll laws Experience processing payroll with 1,000+ employees, in multi-states, and with differing compensation and pay policies Must have an understanding of FMLA, STD, LTD, and state-specific leave laws CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS LANGUAGE SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include accomplished telephone and face-to-face interaction skills. Fluent in written and spoken English.
