Senior Project Specialist (Biotech)

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Specialist to join our Innovation PMO team. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow their career in project management, who thrives in a dynamic environment, is detail-oriented, and demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills. This is a hybrid position based in Walkersville, MD and Shady Grove, MD, with a required onsite presence at least once per month. Key responsibilities:
Provide support to Senior Project Managers on complex projects, including project plan updates, document storage, and budget/expense tracking.
Partner with Innovation Business Development Managers to support early feasibility projects by creating project schedules, coordinating study materials, and managing external lab testing budgets.
Coordinate and support review board meetings, including preparation of pre-read materials and capturing meeting minutes.
Maintain and update Innovation department KPI dashboards for project tracking and reporting.
Assist in maintaining and auditing PMO project documentation in compliance with established SOPs.
Provide training and onboarding for project team members on project management processes and tools.
Support ad-hoc PMO initiatives as needed under the direction of the Head of PMO.
Key requirements:
Associate's degree with 1–2 years of experience, or bachelor's degree with 0–1 year of experience.
PRINCE2 Foundation certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Familiarity with project management in R&D, biotechnology, or product development settings is strongly preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear and concise project updates.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Planner, Microsoft Teams, and other collaboration tools.
Highly organized, adaptable, and capable of working under tight deadlines with shifting priorities.
Must be located within commuting distance to Walkersville, MD with ability to be onsite at least once per month (more frequently preferred).

As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure that we are able to attract the best candidates. As required by law in this state, the quoted salary range for this hybrid position is $65,000.00 – $105,000.00. We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities; while also allowing for differentiation on performance based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at the company between the lower and the middle part of the applicable range. We tailor our offers within the range based on job-related factors, including organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic area and the selected candidate's experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and/or communication skills and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. This range is only inclusive of base salary, and base pay is just one component of Lonza's total compensation package for employees.
